VARNAC-SR

Aceclofenac belongs to the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug and is used as adjunct therapy with other medications for relieving pain. It shows greater anti-inflammatory activity than other NSAIDS. Aceclofenac is poorly soluble and is effective in case of pain associated with dental and gynaecological conditions. Aceclofenac shows chondroprotective effects, it prevents the formation of cytokines, interleukins and tumour necrosis factor.

Aceclofenac decreases the expression of the l-selectin which may interfere with the neutrophil adhesion to the endothelium.

Mechanism of Action-

Aceclofenac inhibits the both the enzymes cox-1 and cox-2 which are responsible for the production of prostaglandins here, cox-1 is involves in the production of prostacyclin which has protective functions towards gastric mucosa.

Pharmacokinetics:

Absorption- It is absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract
Protein Binding- It is 99% bound to plasma proteins
Metabolism- Diclofenac is metabolized in the liver
Excretion- 80% of drug is excreted via urine and rest of the drug is excreted via feces
